Sue has been busy working on the Livingston
property. She loves to rip stuff apart. She gets help from her
father, and her friend, Ned, who is on the fire department with her.
Occasionally Fred is convinced to help, which works well until they have a
difference of opinion. But Fred will be there once the electrical system
starts to be replaced, and he installs an alarm and telephone system - intercom.
The plumbing has been completely replaced with modern pipes. The
furnace and hot water heater have also been replaced. In process, she is adding a new
bathroom to the downstairs, replacing the puny one that leaked and Fred had to
open the door to turn around in (not a pretty site!) The fireplace is being made functional, and the Kitchen framing was completely
re-framed and/or strengthened, down to the floor and up to the roof.

And
the cold and unusable porch has been added to the Kitchen as a seating area,
with views from three new windows. On the second floor, the bathroom has been
gutted, and a new window is being installed.
When
stripped, the house clearly shows it's timber framed construction, which is what
attracted us to the house to begin with. We have plans to leave a small
part of it exposed for future generations to see and marvel at.
A new master bedroom suite which encompasses the entire third floor has
been started,

followed by a
deck and new detached two car garage in the back yard.
A plug for our friend Randy, at EMR construction who is doing 3rf floor
framing.
Here is a slide show of the most recent construction. Some of the
pictures appear bent. Cheap camera:

We hope that the project will be completed in the fall of 2005.
And, at that point, we can say that we saved another old house from the
wrecking ball!
